The Reverend Stanislaus Uszenski Scholarship
The Reverend Stanislaus B. Uszenski (1919-1975),
affectionately known as Fr. Stanley, was the first
parishioner in the history of the church of St. Stanislaus to
be received into the priesthood. He was born and raised
in Pine Island, the second of eleven children born to
Boleslaw and Cornelia Kasporkowicz Uszenski. He was
ordained on June 7, 1941 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral by the
late Francis Cardinal Spellman. He served in St. Joseph
Church (Middletown), St. Columba Church (Chester),
St. Joseph Church (Florida), and St. Casimir Church
(Yonkers). In May 1965, he returned to St. Stanislaus
Church to serve as pastor until his death in 1975.The Rev. Stanislaus B. Uszenski Scholarship was established in 1976 in memory of Fr. Stanley. Over the years, donations to the scholarship fund have continued and presently two scholarships are given out each June to graduating seniors who are parishioners of St. Stanislaus. Applicants who are planning on entering the religious life are given priority in the award of the scholarships.
